How Christ Shapes our Citizenship | What We Are: Ambassadors

Ambassadors represent: --with a message -- by how they live. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. John 17:4 As You sent Me into the world, I have sent them into the world. John 17:18 I do not pray for these alone but also for those who will believe in Me through their word. John 17:20 Christ followers are ambassadors of Jesus. You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world. Matthew 5:13-14 Christ followers are ambassadors of Jesus. 1. We represent Jesus. Verses 9-10 1. We represent Jesus. Ambassadors of Jesus seek to please Him. 1. We represent Jesus. Ambassadors of Jesus seek to please Him. Ambassadors are held accountable. 2. We appeal to people with truth and integrity. Verses 11-13 Love pursues truth and avoids hypocrisy. 3. We view people with gospel lens. Verses 14-15 What ambassadors of Jesus conclude about people: Jesus died for all people. All people are sinners. Salvation is available to all people. All people who are saved are to live for Jesus. Ambassadors see all people through the lens of the gospel. Ambassadors view all people with worth and dignity. Ambassadors conclude that all people need Jesus. Ambassadors resist tribalistic impulses. 4. Ambassadors give a message of reconciliation. Verses 18-21 Comfort those whose candidate lost with the certainty of Christ’s victory. Caution those whose candidate won from putting too much hope in the outcome of any election. Remind people to show compassion and sensitivity to those struggling with fear.
